Dear Parents,

Thank you to those of you who have come out the first two matches and supported us! We are working to improve our game and get better each day, and God willing we will start notching some wins here really soon. I wanted to update you with a few pieces of information:

Fundraising car wash coupons will be coming home today after practice. Just a reminder, the boys need to sell 20 at $15 each, and raise $300 for the program total.

Foothill Tournament this weekend: We will be playing at Tustin High School for pool play, with matches at approximately 9:00 and 10:00 am. The boys need to be at Tustin by 7:15 am, as we ref the first match at 8:00. Following pool play, we will be traveling to either Irvine High or Beckman High for the playoffs. If any of you who are planning to be there would be willing to bring a cooler with water and gatorade in it for the guys, I would appreciate it and will of course reimburse you from the volleyball program!

Las Vegas Tournament April 5-8: We will meet at CCHS at 1:00pm on April 5th to drive, returning to CCHS on April 8th between 2:00 and 3:00. The team will be staying at the Cancun Resort Villas (my timeshare). I placed a call to the hotel on Saturday to try and find out if non-timeshare members can book rooms there and have not heard back. In the meantime, courtesy of mapquest and orbitz.com, I have come up with a few nearby hotels you can look into if you are planning on going to the tournament:

Emerald Suites - 9145 South Las Vegas Blvd. (1 mile south of team hotel)
Microtel Inn & Suites - 55 E Robindale Road (0.8 miles north of team hotel)
Holiday Inn Express - 5760 Polaris Ave. (3.3 miles north of team hotel)
Wingate by Wyndham - 3041 Saint Rose Pkwy, Henderson, NV (3.8 miles SE of team hotel)

I have tried to offer some options that are "non-casino" oriented hotels. These are all in the $100/night or less range, and are all fairly off the strip, which is located about 4 miles north of the Cancun Resort. Of course, if you are ok with staying on the strip, there are some nice hotel deals for the three nights we will be there, such as at the Luxor Hotel and at Mandalay Bay. I will also have a sign-up board for breakfast food donations for the trip at the March 17 and March 26 home games. In the meantime, if you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to let me know!

In His Service,
Chris Spurgin
